i.The work
I make honest portraits of people who would rather not be posed: headshots for the work you do, and memories of the people you love, captured in a way you will actually want on your wall.

ii.Portfolio
People, in good light.
A selection from recent years, all in natural light: on-location headshots and branding, high school seniors, weddings and maternity, children's birthdays and families outdoors. Select a category, or open any frame.

Book a sessioniii.The approach
Calm direction, coastal light, nothing forced.
You don't need to know how to pose. Bring comfortable shoes and about an hour, and leave the rest to me.

Unhurried
Sessions are never stacked back to back. There is room for a toddler to wander and a nervous high school senior to settle in.
Honest
Gentle direction instead of stiff posing. Real skin, true colour, the way people actually lean into one another.
Luminous
Open shade, sea haze and the last hour before sunset do the heavy lifting. Nothing over-processed.

Your session & gallery
We meet in good light and take our time. A few sneak peeks arrive within days; your private gallery about two weeks later.

Photography for me is not looking, it's feeling. If you can't feel what you're looking at, then you're never going to get others to feel anything when they look at your pictures.

v.About
Hello, I'm Gabriel.
I'm a national award-winning portrait and headshot photographer based in Goleta, and my work has been published in magazines, journals and newspapers. What I care about most, though, happens in the hour we spend together.
I started out in photojournalism, which taught me to wait for the honest moment rather than manufacture one. I went on to major in Applied Photography, and then mentored with an accomplished fitness and lifestyle photographer here in Santa Barbara and a bi-coastal wedding and fashion photographer. Between them I learned the technical side of light, and how to direct people gently.
The reason I love this work is the people. I love the conversation, the first few nervous frames, and the moment a client sees a side of themselves they don't usually get to see. When I'm not photographing, I'm travelling with my wife, cooking something ambitious, or pulling one more espresso.

vi.What to expect
How a session unfolds.
From the first note to the finished gallery, here is how it goes when we work together.
- 01
We plan it together
Before we meet, we talk through who will be in the photos, what they are for, and where the light will be kindest. A short questionnaire and a few wardrobe notes mean nothing on the day is guesswork.
- 02
Light chosen on purpose
I schedule around the sun: open shade, a soft morning, or the last hour before sunset. I don’t bring studio lights, so the light in your photos is the light that was really there.
- 03
A relaxed session
No stiff posing marathon. I give simple, gentle direction, leave room for the in-between moments, and keep things moving, so it feels like an easy hour outside rather than a production.
- 04
Your gallery, ready to keep
A few sneak peeks come first. Then you get a private online gallery of finished, edited images, yours to download, share and print.

vii.Questions
Before you book
Anything else, just ask. There are no silly questions about having your picture taken.
I don't know how to pose. Is that a problem?
Not at all; most people don't. I'll guide you the whole way with small, simple directions, and give you time to relax into it. The best frames usually come once you've forgotten about the camera.
Where do sessions take place?
Anywhere from Gaviota to Carpinteria: the bluffs and beaches, oak groves, downtown Santa Barbara, your workplace or your home. Travel within 25 miles of Goleta is included; I'm happy to suggest a spot that suits your session and the time of year.
When is the best time of day?
For most outdoor sessions, the hour or so before sunset, when the light is soft and warm. Headshots and newborn sessions work well earlier in the day, in open shade or by a window.
What should we wear?
Comfortable clothes you feel like yourself in, in soft, natural tones; avoid large logos and busy patterns. After booking you'll receive a wardrobe guide with ideas for every session type.
How and when do we receive our photos?
I go through every frame myself and edit the strongest ones by hand, so you receive a curated gallery rather than a set number; how many depends on the session. A few sneak peeks usually arrive within days, and your private gallery follows in about two weeks (always within three). Holiday mini sessions include 10 hand-edited images, delivered within 14 days. You can download everything in high resolution and print wherever you like.
What happens if the weather is bad?
I watch the forecast, the wind and the air quality for you, and I make the call. If rain, strong wind or smoke move in, I'll let you know by the evening before when I can, or that morning if the sky is undecided, and we'll find another date that suits you. Weather moves are always free. Our usual coastal fog and soft overcast skies aren't a reason to postpone; they make some of the loveliest light.
What if we need to change our date?
Life happens. You can move your session once, free, with at least 72 hours' notice, to a date that works for both of us within six months. If someone gets sick or there's an emergency closer to the day, just let me know before your start time and I'll offer one courtesy reschedule. Holiday mini sessions move to another open time on the mini session dates.
How do I reserve a date?
Send an inquiry below and I'll reply within 24 hours, often much sooner, with open dates. Once you've chosen one, you'll sign the agreement and pay a 50% retainer online, which holds your date and is nonrefundable. The balance is due two days before your session. Holiday mini sessions are $150, paid in full when you book with the buttons above.
viii.Inquire
Let's find a date, and the light.
Tell me a little about who's in the picture and when suits you. I'll reply personally, within 24 hours, often much sooner.
